Ms. Wilma Baker age 76 of Heidrick, KY departed this life on Sunday, August 28, 2016 in the Barbourville ARH. She was born in Thief River Falls, Minnesota on June 1, 1940 the daughter of Oscar and Gladys (Sampson) Gutterud. Ms. Baker was of the Lutheran faith and was of Norwegian descent. Wilma had served in the Women's Army Corp where she was a specialist 4th class and worked in correspondence. She retired from Appalachian Research and Defense Fund of Kentucky where she was a clerk stenographer. In 1961 she united in marriage with Matt J. Baker and to this former union five children were born.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Gladys Gutterud, two daughters, Mary Jane Roark and Hope Marie Baker, four brothers, Lawrence, Richard, Elmer and Leonard Gutterud and two sisters, Dolly Rosette and Marian Ericson.
Left behind to mourn her passing, two sons, Scott Alan Baker and Craig James Baker both of Heidrick and one daughter, Darla Brown and husband Rodney Brown of Corbin, four grandchildren, Kayla Smith and husband Jacob of Barbourville, Charles Nathan Allen, Hope Renee Jordan and husband Danny of Barbourville and Colt Baker, two great grandchildren, Ally Grace Jordan and Jacob Smith. She also leaves behind a host of many other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Ms. Baker will be conducted on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at 2:00 p.m with Rev. Bobby Abner officiating. Pallbearers will be Rodney Brown, Charles Nathan Allen, Jacob Smith and Danny Jordan. Burial will follow in the Barbourville Cemetery with Military Honors being rendered.
