Mr. Walter Harry Lounder age 65 of Barbourville departed this life on Sunday, November 11, 2012 in the Rockcastle Co. Hospital in Mt. Vernon, KY. He was the husband of Sharon Leddington Lounder and the son of Frank and Margaret (Furlong) Lounder born to them on October 31, 1947 in New Brunswick, Canada. Mr. Lounder was campus safety officer at Union College and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. He enjoyed spending time on Spednic Lake in McAdam, New Brunswick and believed in the Catholic faith He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank & Margaret Lounder.
He is survived by his wife Sharon Lounder of Barbourville, a daughter Tracy Piercy and husband Ross of McAdam, New Brunswick, his first wife Ella Lounder Paul also of McAdam, New Brunswick, two step daughters, April Joy Murphy and husband Edward of Barbourville and Cindy Marie Helton of Lafollette, TN one sister, Janet Landry and husband Richard of Moncton, New Brunswick, two grandchildren, Courtney Piercy and Meghan Piercy and three step grandchildren, Katelynn Burris and Tyler and Peyton Murphy. Mr. Lounder also leaves behind a host of many other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Mr. Walter Lounder will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, November 17, 2012 qat 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Dewayne Smith officiating. Pallbearers will be Thomas Garland, Adam Daly, Mike Gray, Casey Murphy, Denver Ledington, Richard Landry. Honorary pallbearers will be all the faculty, staff and students of Union College. Mr. Lounder will be laid to rest in the Hunter - Ledington Cemetery in Barbourville. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements
Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home on Friday evening, November 16th from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
