Walter Jones Cordell

Mr. Walter Jones Cordell, age 70, of Gray, KY, passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2013, in the Oak Tree Hospital, Corbin, KY. He was the husband of Shirley Hensley Cordell, and the son of the late David and Thelma Gambrel Cordell, born to them in Knox County on November 13, 1942. He was also preceded in death by one son, Dwayne Cordell, and one brother, John Cordell. He was a member of the Old Time Baptist Church.
Mr. Cordell is survived by his wife, Shirley, one daughter, April Renee Pulkinen and husband William, Fort Irwin, CA, and three sisters, Pat Hensley, Berea, KY, Lucy Cordell, Gray, KY, and Alice Holman, Milford, Michigan, plus a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
A memorial service for Walter Jones Cordell will be conducted at the Old Time Baptist Church,Gray, KY, Sunday, October 27, at 2:00 p.m., with the Rev. Shane Martin officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. at the church. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations may be made to "Four Paws for Ability", P.O. Box 422, Bimble, KY, 40915, for Haley Jordan Martin's service dog.
