Mr. Victor Barnes, Jr. age 73 of the Cranes Nest community, Barbourville, KY departed this life on Monday, March 27, 2017 in the Baptist Health Hospital in Corbin, KY. He was born in Fount, KY on August 18, 1943 the son of Victor Barnes, Sr. and Ollie (Messer) Barnes. He was a member of the Worldwide Church of God and was baptized in 1984. He was a 30 year coal miner for the James River Coal Co.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Ollie Barnes, parents-in-law Robert and Myrtle Strong Taylor, two infant daughters, Sherry Lynn Barnes and Demariah Tye Barnes, one infant son, Mark Thomas Barnes, a sister Patricia Weaver and a grandson, Phillip Barnes.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-five years Patsy Barnes of Barbourville, a daughter Lisa Miller and husband Dr. James Miller of Corbin, KY, one son, Robert Barnes and wife Debbie of Corbin, KY, one brother, Raymond Barnes and wife Sandra of Waynesburg, KY and one brother-in-law Rodney Weaver of London, KY, two sisters, Amanda Middleton and husband William of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Dorothy McKnight and husband Jim of Nicholasville, KY, his grandchildren, Christopher Barnes and wife Sally of Tampa, Florida, Kevin Barnes and wife Heather of Lutz, FL., Shawn Barnes of Maryville, TN, Dustin and Jessica Hayes of Somerset, KY. and Taylor Ann and Jonathan Dryden Miller of Corbin, KY., Great Grandchildren, Charlotte Grace Barnes, Elizabeth Ann Barnes and Jayden Hayes. He also leaves behind a host of many other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Mr. Victor Barnes, Jr. will be conducted on Friday, March 31, 2017 at 2pm in the Cobb Hampton Funeral Home with Mr. John C. Taylor officiating. Pallbearers will be, Chris Barnes, Kevin Barnes, Shawn Barnes, Dustin Hayes, Lonnie Ayers, David Middleton. He will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery. Cobb Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.
Friends will be received at the Cobb Hampton Funeral Home from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2017 and 1:00 p.m. to the time of the funeral on Friday.
