Verlan Golden

Mr. Verlan Gilbert Golden age 74 of Artemus, KY passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2009 at his home. He was the son of the late Bob & Nannie (Partin) Golden, born to them on May 24, 1935 in Knox County.
Mr. Golden believed in the Baptist faith, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and hanging out at Messers – Spur Market. Mr. Golden was a Logger and a former Coal Miner.
He was preceded in death by his parents Bob & Nannie Golden, one grandson Tony Todd Wilson, and a son-in-law Kevin Warren, two sisters Ann Hembree, and Bell Buckner and two brothers Link Hurst, and John Hurst.
Left behind to mourn his passing is: His former wife Jessie Golden, Four sons Verlan Golden Jr. & wife Barbara, Jimmy Dean Golden & Carrie Miller, Tony Golden & wife Lesia, all of Kay Jay, KY and Virgil Golden & wife Sue of Stoney Fork, KY, two daughters Verna Warren , and Kathy Brown & husband Greg both of Trosper, KY. Thirteen grandchildren Justin Warren, Kody Warren, Hayle Brown, Whitney Golden, Kelsey Golden, Reagan Golden, Crystal Garland, Joe Golden, Mackenza Golden, Tyler Golden, Emily Miller, Jimmy Ray Golden & wife Judy, Derek Golden, and four great grandchildren Devin Golden, Rayle Golden, Jimberly Golden, and Corey Garland. A very special friend Peggy and a good friend Steve Goins. Plus a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Mr. Golden will be conducted on Monday – December 21st, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lonnie Collett & Rev. Jeff Branum officiating. Pallbearers will be Justin Warren, Kody Warren, Jimmy Ray Golden, Derek Golden, Jessie Garland, Tony Golden, and Charlie Golden. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Ross, Ronnie Messer, Dessie Messer, Maxine Messer. Knox Family Medicine, Dr. Rodney Smith, and Messer’s- Spur Oil Staff. Burial will follow in Tinsley cemetery.
