Mr. Thomas Monroe Singleton age 76 of Bledsoe, KY departed this life on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at his home. He was the son of William Bryant Singleton and Edna (Alred) Singleton born to them on March 20, 1934 in Knox Co., KY. He was a member of the New Bethel Baptist church. He enjoyed fishing, sports and loved to collect things. Mr. Singleton was also a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife Delores Singleton, three brothers, Arnold E. Singleton, Elmer H. Singleton and Paul Singleton and one sister, Lucille Singleton.
Survivors include his dear friend and caregiver Nettie Mae Burkhart of Bledsoe, two brothers, Billy Ray Singleton of Artemus and Johnny Clark Singleton of Bledsoe, three sisters, Elizabeth Joyce Zamponi and husband Charles of Detroit, Michigan, Ella Haldorf and husband James of Artemus and Hattie Joann Scorof and husband John of North Wilkesboro, North Carolina. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends to mourn his passing along with Barb Burkhart and Sonia Burkhart.
Funeral services for Mr. Singleton will be conducted on Friday, November 19, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brian Hacker officiating. Burial will follow in the Sowders Cemetery at Artemus. Pallbearers will be Darrell Helton, Byron Burkhart, John Singleton, Billy Singleton, Clarence Lawson, Doyle Burkhart and Bobby Helton.
Friends may call at the Hampton Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Friday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 11:00 a.m.
