Mrs. Thelma Lee Martin age 64, of Barbourville, KY departed this life on Wednesday – April 15, 2009 at her home. She was the wife of Jesse Martin and the daughter of the late Arnold & Mable (Partin) Broughton of Knox county born to them on February 04, 1945 in Knox county.
Mrs. Martin was a member of the Beacon Baptist Church and like to work in flowers, fish, Camp, and spend time with her Grandchildren. Thelma had been a nurse for 30 years at the Knox County Hospital and had worked at several other hospitals in the area.
She was preceded in death by her parents Arnold & Mable Broughton, one brother Wayne Broughton, and two sisters Connie Harris and Joanna Broughton.
Left to mourn her passing is her husband Jesse Martin, of Barbourville, KY, four sons Dallas James (D.J.) Martin & wife Lora of London, KY, Tony Martin & fiancé Michelle Harris of Annville, KY, Shane Martin & wife Ann of Barbourville, KY, Jesses Brandon Martin & wife Jade of Barbourville, KY. Three daughters Carmen Hickman & husband Charles Alvin of Warren, KY, Angel Patterson & husband Daniel of Barbourville, KY , Jessica Hope Martin and fiancée Kyle of Barbourville, KY, seven brothers Kenneth Broughton & wife Vernie of Michigan, Russell Broughton & wife Ida Gray, KY, Danny Broughton & wife Rosemary of Barbourville, KY, Johnny Broughton & wife Sudie of Barbourville, KY, Eddie Dean Broughton & wife Glena of Fort Knox, KY, Teddy Broughton & wife Sherry of Barbourville, KY, Three sisters Kathy Broughton of Barbourville, KY, Goldie Jackson of Tennessee, and Geraldine Burns & husband Fordie of Manchester, KY, 20 Grandchildren Sara Roberts & husband Lyle, Austin Martin, Houston Martin, Eric Martin & wife Holly, Kyle Martin, Samantha Martin, Dylan Martin, Paige Martin, Sean Patterson, Megan Patterson, Hanna Patterson, Courtney Martin, Jordan Martin, Chloe Beth Martin, Bailey Martin, Kayleen Broughton, Skyler Eversole, Keith Broughton, Taylor Harris, and Brayden Harris, and one Great – Grandchild on the way. Mrs. Martin also leaves behind a host of many other friends and relatives to mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Mrs. Thelma Martin will be in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Friday – April 17, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Dennis Chesnut, Rev. Ray Spicer and Rev. Bill Wolfe officiating. Pallbearers will be Grandsons. Honorary Pallbearers will be Hospital Staff & Doctors. Interment will be at the Yeager & Powell Cemetery. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
Friends will be received on the Hampton Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00p.m.
