Sylvia Hobbs

Mrs. Sylvia Baker Hobbs age 84, of Scalf, KY passed away Tuesday in the Knox County Hospital. She was born on March 31, 1925 at Mills KY to the union of Jesse and Ada (Bingham) Baker. She was united in marriage to Bentley Hobbs. She was of the Baptist faith and a Homemaker. Mrs. Hobbs loved to raise flowers and to cook.
She was preceded in death by her parents Jesse and Ada Baker and her husband Bentley Hobbs, one daughter, Lola Hobbs, one brother, Oliver Baker and three sisters, Sally Cantrell, Lucy Mason and Amanda Gray, two sons in law, Dexter Brown and Buddie Bingham.
Survivors include four sons Don Hobbs and wife Mary Ann, Jerry Hobbs and wife Margaret, Dempsey Hobbs and wife Gladys, Archie Hobbs and Fiancé Lois Hubbard all of Scalf, KY, three daughters: Shirley Bingham and Doris Brown both of Scalf, KY and Imogene Betty Meade and husband David of Abingdon, Virginia one sister, Mary Jane Hisner and husband John of Phoenix, Arizona, twenty grandchildren, thirty Great Grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren plus a host of many relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Mrs. Sylvia Hobbs will be conducted at Hampton Funeral home Chapel on Friday -April 10, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Charles Carnes and Rev. Bill Collins, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Brown-Hobbs Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jerry Dewayne Hobbs, Sam Hobbs, Billy Joe Bingham, Chuck Bingham, Ricky Bingham, David Hobbs, Randy Hobbs, Adam Robinson, Buddie Bingham and Dexter Cody Jones. Honorary Pallbearers are Barbourville Nursing Home Staff, Doctors and Staff of Knox County Hospital and Family and friends. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.

The family of Mrs. Sylvia Baker Hobbs will receive friends at Hampton Funeral Home from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. Thursday and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
