Shelby Smith

Shelby Smith, age 68, of Barbourville, went to be with the lord on Saturday, November 26th, 2011. He was the son of the late Ellis and Maxine Warren Smith born to them on February 27, 1943 in Harlan County, KY.
Shelby was a member of the Roadside Baptist Church and the Kentucky National Guard. He was a retired backhoe operator for Delta Gas Company a job he loved to reminisce about.
Shelby was survived by his daughter Tammy Teague and his former son in law Hobert of Barbourville. Two brothers Harold Lynn Smith and his wife Rowena of Barbourville and Ellis Smith Jr. and his wife Wilma Joyce of Barbourville. One sister Ima Faye Geiger and her husband Jim of Corbin, one sister in law Nadine Smith and one grandson Jamie Teague.
Besides his parents Shelby was preceded in death by his wife Rosetta Payne Smith and his brother Joe Boone Smith. He was also preceded by infant siblings Frances and Chester.
Funeral services for Shelby Smith will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday at the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with Denvil Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the Willie Harrison Smith Cemetery in Barbourville. The family will receive friends after 11AM Wednesday until the funeral hour of 2:00PM at Hampton Funeral Home
