Mr. Charles Scott Campbell age 79 of Barbourville, departed this life on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at the Knox Co. Hospital. He was the husband of Iva Jean (Siler) Campbell and the son of Charley and Jessie (Green) Campbell born to them on July 21, 1930 in Knox Co.
Mr. Campbell was a Veteran of the United States Army and the Army National Guards. He was a member of the East Barbourville Baptist Church where he had been a long time deacon, he was also the chaplain for the American Legion Post #69, a member of the Gideon’s, a knife collector, and a grandfather who loved and enjoyed his grandkids.
He is preceded in death by his parents Charley & Jessie Campbell, one brother Earl Campbell, and one sister Kathleen McKeehan.
Left behind to mourn his passing is one son William Duane Campbell & wife Rosalind of Danville, KY, one daughter Debbie Moran & husband Mark of Barbourville, KY, one brother Billy J. Campbell & wife Pauline of Centerville, Ohio, three grandchildren Kristen Moran, Corey Moran, and Tara Sosh, two great grandchildren Austin Johnson and Justin Johnson plus a host of other nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Mr. Campbell will be conducted on Sunday, May 30th, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Vandy, Rev. Dale Campbell, and Rev. Jimmy Siler officiating. Pallbearers will be nephews, grandsons and great grandsons. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Deacons from the East Barbourville Baptist Church and members of the American Legion Post #69. Burial will follow in Barbourville Cemetery. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the Hampton Funeral Home on Saturday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.

The family has suggested that donations be made to the East Barbourville Baptist Church Building Fund.
