Mrs. Sarah Mae (Mills) Baker age 93 of Dewitt, KY passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2009 in the Knox County Hospital in the Long Term Care Unit. She was the widow of Obie Baker and the daughter of Sollie & Mellie (Mattingly) Mills born to them on September 12th, 1916 in Knox County.
Mrs. Baker attended the Salt Gum Baptist Church and later attended the Dewitt Baptist Church. As a young woman she worked on the National Youth Administration Program. Later she became a homemaker and a Kentucky Colonel.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years Obie Baker, her parents Sollie & Mellie Mills, two brothers Lee H. Mills, and Tip Mills, and one sister Rosie Gregory.
Left behind to mourn her passing is one son Jerry Baker & wife Marlene of Dewitt, KY, one daughter Barbara Cole of Port Orange, Florida, three brothers Jim Matt Mills of Corbin, KY, Ben F. Mills of New Lebanon, Ohio, and Clarence Roy Mills of Corbin, KY, one sister Elizabeth Mills of Scalf, KY, five grandchildren Ginger Hall, Scott Cole, Beverly Cole, Kandi Hampton and Kristal Doolin, six great grandchildren, Kimber Hall, Lindsay Cole, Lauren Cole, J.T. Hall, Taylor Hampton, and Tara Doolin. Mrs. Baker also leaves behind a host of many other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah Baker will be conducted in the Chapel of the Hampton Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 21st, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Kennon Roark, Rev. Vernon Morris and Rev. Brian Miracle officiating. Pallbearers will be J.M. Hall, Doug Hampton, Terry Doolin, Scott Cole, Clifford Mills, Roger Mills, Randall Carnes, Eugene Carnes, and Ricky Mills. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dennis Mills, Herliss Mills, and J. T. Hall. the family would like to send a special thank you to the staff of the Long Term Care Unit at the Knox Co. Hospital. Mrs. Baker will be laid to rest in the Binghamtown Cemetery at Dewitt, KY. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the Hampton Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 1:00 p.m.
