Mr. Samuel Harold Sutherland age 75 of Bimble, KY departed this life on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at his home. He was the husband of Joyce (Liford) Sutherland and the son of Roosevelt and Hilda (Ramsey) Sutherland born to them on May 31, 1934 in Dickenson County, Virginia.
He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean Conflict. He was also retired from Ford Motor Co. He loved fishing, hunting, working in his garden and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Roosevelt and Hilda Sutherland and two brothers, Roosevelt Sutherland, Jr. and Roy Sutherland and one brother in law Noah Rasnick.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Sutherland of Bimble, KY, three sons, Danny Sutherland and wife Sheryl of North Branch, Michigan, Sam Sutherland, Jr. and wife Teresa of Bimble, KY and Terry Sutherland and wife Melinda of Bimble, KY and one daughter, Tressa Liford and husband Tony of Hinkle, KY, three sisters, Erma Rasnick of Marana, Arizona, Gaynell Stidham and husband James of Clintwood, Virginia and Nancy Collis and husband Larry of Virginia, three brothers, Eulis Sutherland and wife Emma of Clintwood, Virginia, Charles Sutherland and wife Margaret and Allen Sutherland and wife Vickie all of Clinchco, Virginia, eleven grandchildren and six great grandchild, two sisters in law, Molly Sutherland and Jeanette Sutherland. Mr. Sutherland also leaves behind a host of many other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Mr. Sutherland will be conducted on Saturday, Feb 13, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Liford and Rev. Keith Liford officiating. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Daniel Sutherland, Benjamin Sutherland, Jonah Sutherland, Anthony Liford, Justin Sutherland, Joshua Liford, and Tyler Sutherland. Honorary pallbearers will be Tony, Ray, Ken and Randall Liford, Fred Kiser and John Crepeau. Burial will follow in the Sutherland Cemetery at Bimble, KY. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.
