Sammy “Sam” Dye age 60, of Flat Lick passed away Thursday at his residence. He was the husband of Gennie Beth Gambrel Dye and the son of Arland and Virginia Dye Childers born to them on September 20, 1949 in Russell County Virginia. He believed in the Baptist faith and was a retired Coal Miner. He enjoyed being with his friends, his Grandkids and was the mayor of Flat Lick.

He was preceded in death by one Granddaughter Natosha Lee Jackson.

Survivors include his wife Gennie Beth Gambrel Dye and his parents Arland and Virginia Dye Childress of New Tazwell, Virginia two Daughters: Kathy Marie Rose and husband Jimmy of Flat Lick, KY and Sandy Kinkade and husband Garrette of Miracle, KY, four Brothers David Childress and wife Amy, Michael Childress, Eddie Childress, Larry Childress and wife Machelle all of New Tazwell, Virginia, Six Grandchildren: Marybeth Nichole Jackson, Huey Lee Jackson, Jr. Christina Noel Carter, Ryan Lee Carter, Chloe Autumn Rose and Devin Michael Claiborne.

Funeral services for Sammy “Sam” Dye will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Monday September 28, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with David Rice officiating. Burial will follow in the Davis Cemetery at Acorn Fork with Michael Claiborne, Greg Warren, Jason Gambrel, Matt Russ, Andy Asher, Jerry Paul Cox, M.C. Helton and Michael Cox serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jerry “Rabbit” Cox, Ed Bingham, Frank Bingham, Friends, Neighbors and Relatives.

The family of Sammy “Sam” Dye will receive friends at Hampton Funeral Home on Saturday from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
