Mrs. Ruth Brown Gray, age 73, of Flat Lick, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Barbourville ARH Hospital.  She was the daughter of the late Obie and Julie (Collins) Brown, born to them on May 21, 1945 in Scalf, Kentucky.  She was the wife of Flem Gray, united in marriage on September 15, 1962.  Ruth was a member of the Concord Baptist Church and dearly loved and cherished all her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She also loved to watch her UK Wildcats play basketball.

Ruth was preceded in death by one infant son, her parents Obie and Julie (Collins) Brown, brother Roscoe Brown, and son Travis Lee Gray.

Left behind to mourn her passing her loving husband Flem Gray, daughters  Helen Strong and husband Barry, Robin Davis and husband Jack, Joella Black and husband Jeff, sons Timothy Gray and Joshua Gray and fiancée Holly Holt, grandchildren Bradley Strong and wife Brooke, Brittany Davis and fiancée Tony Brock, Matthew Strong, and Caitlyn Black, great grandchildren Kallie and Katana Rice, Madison Ruth and Daniel Lee Gray, brothers Bryant Brown, Tommy Brown, Walter Brown and Mitchell Brown, sisters, Joann Gray, Juanita Gray, Charlotte Christie and Delphia Nolan.  She also leaves behind many other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Ruth Brown Gray will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in the Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home chapel in Barbourville, with Pastor Mike Collins  officiating.  Special family friend Todd Owens will assist.  Pallbearers will be Jack Davis, Jeff Black, Barry Strong, Joshua Gray, Bradley Strong and Matthew Strong.  Burial will follow in the A.J. Gray Cemetery in Flat Lick, Kentucky.  Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.

Friends will be received at Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home for funeral expenses.  Donations may be made directly through our website by clicking the ‘Appeal for Donations’ button.
