Ruth Bays

Mrs. Ruth Bays age 76 of Artemus, KY departed this life on Thursday, April 17, 2008 in the Knox Co. Hospital. She was the wife of Rufus Bays, they were united in marriage in July 1954 and to this union one son was born. Mrs. Bays was the daughter of John Henry Broughton and Ellen Doan Broughton born to them on December 15, 1931 in Knox Co. KY. She was a member of the Coal Port Baptist Church and very much enjoyed tending to her garden.
Mrs. Bays was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Ethel Smith and Myrtle McVey, one brother Enis Broughton and a daughter-in-law Carol Kiphart Bays.
Survivors for Mrs. Bays include her husband Rufus Bays of Artemus, KY, one son John Wesley Bays of Artemus, KY one sister Hazel Sowders of Artemus, KY and two brothers Charlie Broughton of Corbin, KY and John W. Broughton and wife Mary of Artemus, KY. Mrs. Bays also leaves behind a very special grandson Bryce Bays in addition to a host of friends and relatives to mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Bays will be conducted on Sunday-April 20, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Arnold Petrey and Rev. Gene Hubbs officiating. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Burial will follow in the Sowders Cemetery, Artemus, KY. Family will receive friends Saturday from 7:00 p.m. until 9 :00 p.m. and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m. at the Hampton Funeral Home. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
