Mr. Russell Bays age 69, of Gray, KY departed this life on Monday November 17, 2008 in the UK medical center in Lexington, KY. He was born on May 8th, 1939 in Knox Co., KY and was the son of Lloyd Bays & Lucy (Messer) Bays. Mr. Bays was of the Catholic faith. He enjoyed fishing and watching sports and had been the owner and operator of Bays Machine Products. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd & Lucy Bays, one daughter Gail Bailey, two grandchildren Denial, and Pamela Gail and one brother John “Jay” Bays.
Survivors include his wife Shirley Bays and one son Russell Bays Jr, both of Gray, KY, four daughters Pamela Garrett of Harlan, KY, Carissa Jane Huff & husband Wayne of Smith, KY, Jennifer Bays of Lake Buff, Illinois and Jennie Marie Crunk of Phoenix, AZ, one brother Charles Bays of Barbourville, KY, 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Mr. Bays also leaves behind a host of other relative and friends to mourn his passing. Funeral Mass for Russell Bays will be conducted at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church in Barbourville on Friday, November 21st, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Peter Joseph presiding. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery at Gray, KY. Pallbeares will be family & friends. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements. The family of Mr. Bays will receive friends at the Hampton Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00p.m. And on Friday at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 11:00 a.m.
