Mrs. Ruby Smith age 92, of Flat Lick, KY passed away on Saturday – May 30th, 2009 at the Knox County Hospital in Barbourville, KY. She was the widow of Lloyd Smith and the daughter of the late Levi & Axie (Hammons) Bargo of Knox County born to them on December 6th, 1916.
Mrs. Smith was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church, and enjoyed cooking, gardening, quilting, canning, and her children.
She is preceded in death by her parents Levi & Axie Bargo, her husband Lloyd Smith, two sons Arvil Smith and Joe Smith, six brothers Leonard Bargo, Joe Bargo, Beige Bargo, Estil Bargo, Colonel Bargo, Les Bargo, and two sisters Edna, and Sylvia.
Survivors include seven sons Homer Smith of River Rouge, Michigan, Rev. Don Smith & wife Barb, Rev. Harold Jean Smith & wife Irene, Colonel Smith & wife Doris Jean, Nevel Smith, and Arlie Smith, all of Flat Lick, KY, L.C. Smith & wife Doris of Bimble, KY, five daughters Verdi Hughes of Lexington, KY, Pamela Bright of Barbourville, KY, Vivian Smith & husband John of Flat Lick, KY, Freda Mills & husband Clifford of Scalf, KY, Reba Hensley & husband David of Bimble, KY. Mrs. Smith also leaves behind many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren along with other relatives & friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Smith will be in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday – June 2nd, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Tip Smith, Rev. Dale Johnson, Rev. Mike Liford, and Rev. Bill Stewart officiating. Pallbearers will be Grandsons Rev. Jerry Smith, Calvin Smith, Jason Mills, Tommy Mills, Donnie Smith, Ken Smith, David Smith, and Nicholas Smith. Burial will follow in the Smith Cemetery at Barbourville. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
