Mrs. Ruby Barnes age 90 of Girdler, KY passed away on Wednesday, January 25th, 2012 in the Knox County Hospital. She was the widow of James Crit Barnes and the daughter of the late Ezra & Birdie (Wagers) Jones.
Ruby was a member of the Locust Grove Baptist Church and also attended the New Bethel Baptist Church. Ruby was a former part-time cook at Girdler school, she also worked at Floyd Sowders store where she made .80 cents an hour an six years later went to $1.05, she went to full time work when Oakley turned 3 years old, at Lawson Furniture where she retired.
Ruby loved her grandchildren, Washington D.C. , flying, making Quilts, and cooking.
Besides her husband and parents she was preceded in death by one son Laymon Barnes, seven brothers, two infant, Johnny Jones, Russell Jones, Pearl Jones, Bev Jones, and Max Dale Jones. Two grandchildren Mary Smith and Timmy Barnes.
Left behind to mourn her passing is six sons Kenley Barnes & wife Effie, Oakley Barnes, Johnny Barnes & wife Jennie and Eugene Barnes & wife Helen all of Girdler, Charles Barnes of Big Rock, VA, and Russell Barnes of Cannon, one daughter Ruth Holland of Cannon, one brother Roofus Jones of Gray, and three sisters Lillie Carty & husband Gene of Girdler, and Lucy Abner & husband Clifford and Beulah Gilbert & husband Jack both of Miamisburg, Ohio. Fifteen grandchildren , Twenty six Great grandchildren and fourteen Great Great grandchildren. A daughter-in-law Linda Barnes plus a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Ruby Barnes will be conducted on Monday, January 30th, 2012 @ 1:00 p.m. In the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. With the Rev. Jimmy Siler & Lonnie Collett officiating. Pallbearers will be Family & Friends. Honorary Pallbearers are The Barbourville Nursing home & Staff, And Professional Home Health. Burial will be in the Barnes Cemetery at Gray. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.
Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home on Sunday from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 1:00 p.m.
