Mr. R.P. Smith age 68 of Barbourville, KY departed this life on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 in the Knox Co. Hospital. He was the husband of Imogene Smith and the son of Milton & Edna Bargo Smith. He was born on September 16, 1940 in Knox Co. He was a factory worker and a truck driver. He loved to hunt and work on trucks. He is preceded in death by his parents Milton and Edna Smith, one sister Glenda Sue Smith, one brother E.G. Smith and one brother in law, Buster Warren.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of thirty seven years, Imogene Grubb Smith of Barbourville, one daughter Margaret Edmonds and husband Bob of New Boston, Michigan, one step son, David Carmack of Barbourville, one sister Brenda Warren of Barbourville, two brothers Otis Smith and wife Carol, Jerry Smith and wife Wanda Faye and one sister in law June Faye Smith all of Barbourville, three grandchildren, Stacy Edmonds, Robert Edmonds and Allen Carmack and two great grandsons, three aunts, Vernie Mills, Cleo Bargo and Hester Gambrel and special friends Pat and Loretta Smith. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Mr. R.P. Smith will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, September 18, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Denvil Taylor and Rev. Josh K. Smith officiating. Mr. Smith will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be friends & neighbors. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Vora, Dr. Lohe and the staff of the Knox Co. Hospital. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.

Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
