Mrs. Roxie Jean Smith age 74, of Flat Lick, passed away Friday at ST. Mary’s Hospital, Knoxville. She was born on April 13,1936 to Albert and Martha Grubb Smith in Knox County. She was united in marriage to Ancil Myrick who preceded her in death. She believed in the Baptist Faith, loved her Children and Grandchildren, Camping and going to the Lake.
Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two sons: John David and Terry Myrick two daughters: Debbie Sue and Martha Kay Myrick. Three brothers Clyde Smith, Kenneth Smith, Curt Smith and one sister Ann Gray.
Survivors include Curtis Myrick and wife Vivian of Gray, Michael Myrick and wife Sophie of Gray, Darrell Myrick of Corbin, Kim Alan Myrick and wife Rhonda of Georgia, Jerry Paul Myrick and wife Cathy of Barbourville and Ancil Myrick of Barbourville. One daughter: Barbara Cox of Flat Lick. One brother: Denver Smith and wife Vivian of Barbourville, two sisters Amy Smith of Ohio, Zelma Smith and husband Paul of Florida. She is also survived by 25 Grandchildren and 22 Great Grandchildren plus a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Roxie Jean Smith will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Monday in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with A.Y. Mills officiating. Burial will follow in the Hammons Cemetery with her sons, Jason Stewart, John Stewart and Tip Smith serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends on Sunday evening at Hampton Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
