Mrs. Rosa Mills age 94 of Flat Lick, KY departed this life on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 in the Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin, KY. She was the widow of Jim Mills and the daughter of the late Lee and Mollie (Hale) Hammons. She was born in Knox Co. on July 8, 1917 and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Hinkle Branch Holiness Church. Rosa enjoyed crocheting, quilting, gardening and singing and her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Mollie Hammons, her husband Jim Mills, one daughter Ruth Ellen Mills, one son, Denver Mills two brothers, George Hammons and John Hammons, one sister Mary Rose and a granddaughter Sharon Kay Mills.
She is survived by her two daughters, Edith Prince and husband Harold of Barbourville and Anna Rasnick and husband Charles of Milford, Ohio, one son Don Mills and wife Ann of Flat Lick, KY, one daughter in law, Bobbie Dunaway of London, eight grandchildren, Daniel Mills, Timmy Mills, Melissa Prince Owens, Dr. Mark Prince, Tommy Mills, Patty Engle, Teresa Fischer and Doug Rasnick , fifteen great grandchildren, three sisters Dora Hinkle of Ohio, Betty Smith of Corbin and Charity Crawford of Lancaster, two brothers, Ned Hammons of Berea and Elijah Hammons of Florida. Mrs. Mills also leaves behind a host of many other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Mrs. Rosa Mills will be conducted on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Frazier, Rev. Sylvester Dunn and Rev. Mike Fuson officiating. Pallbearers will be grandsons and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Rev. Dean Liford, Rev. B.R. Smith, Dr. Stargil, Dr. Morton, Dr. Krishna along with all the staff of the Corbin Nursing Home. Mrs. Mills will be laid to rest in the Hinkle Branch Cemetery at Hammond. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.
Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
