Robert Harold Elam
November 14, 1940 — July 3, 2012
Mr. Robert Harold Elam age 71 of Gray, KY went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 3, 2012. He was the son of Chester Crit Elam, Sr. and Gusta (Bryant) Elam born to them on November 14, 1940 in Knox Co., KY. Mr. Elam believed in the Baptist faith and was a veteran of the United States Army. He retired from Chrysler Corporation and was a member of the UAW of Somerset.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother Gerald Elam and one sister Mattie Mae Longsworth.
Left behind to mourn his passing is his stepson and step daughter, Harold Runyon and Teri Runyon both of Michigan, one brother Chester Elam and wife Carolyn of Barbourville and two sisters, Dorcas Faye Mattingly of Wichita, Kansas and Ruby Juanita Elam of Centerville, Indiana. He also leaves behind his very special nieces and nephews and special friends Linda Taylor of Michigan and Molly Hensley of Barbourville along with a host of many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Robert Harold Elam will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, July 6, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Shane Martin and Rev. Greg Jones officiating. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Mr. Elam will be laid to rest in the Hensley Cemetery at Jarvis, KY. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 11:00 a.m.
