Mr. R.L. Hammons Sr. age 70, of Four Mile, KY passed away Monday – September 01, 2008 at his home. Mr. Hammons was born June 11, 1938 in Knox County to the late Riley & Vinnie (Burnett) Hammons. Mr. Hammons was a member of the Union Mission Baptist Church. He was retired from the Leroy Company in Ohio. His hobbies were going to bluegrass shows & listing to music, fishing, and going to the flea markets. His parents and one brother Roscoe Hammons, one sister Martha Baker preceded Mr. Hammons in death.
Survivors include his companion Nancy Mills of Four Mile, Ky., one son R.L. Hammons Jr. & wife Donna of Florence, Ky., two daughter Barbara Rinehart & husband Richard of Sydney, Ohio, Mary Tangeman & husband Roger of Four Mile, Ky., one sister Maudie Miller & husband Carl of Artemus, Ky., 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Plus a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing. Funeral services for Mr. Hammons will be conducted on Thursday – September 04, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Union Mission Baptist Church with Rev. Donnie Mills officiating. Burial will follow in the Bingham Cemetery with Family & Friends serving as pallbearers. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all the arrangements. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening at the Union Mission Baptist Church starting at 6:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
