Rev. Chester Bargo, 101 years of age departed this life on Monday, June 29, 2009 in the Christian Health Community Center in Corbin, KY. He was the son of Emanuel & Elizabeth Bargo born to them on June 19, 1908 in Knox Co. Early in life he united in marriage with Effie Bargo and to this union six children were born. Later in life he united in marriage with Martha Viola Pridemore.
Rev. Bargo was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church. He had been a full time minister and was well known throughout the county. He was a former school bus driver and the owner/operator of Bargo General Merchandise store. In his younger years he enjoyed fishing and fox hunting and being a mechanic.
He was preceded in death by his parents Emanuel & Elizabeth Bargo, his first wife Effie Bargo, two sons Obie Bargo and Edwin Bargo and one daughter Edna Mae Williams, three brothers George, James, and Farmer Bargo, and three sister’s Edna Mae Senters, Donna Hurst, and Sabria Bargo, one step-son Jesse Perkins, and one step-granddaughter Tonya Perkins.
Left to mourn his passing is his wife Martha Bargo of Barbourville, KY, three daughters Rachel Higgins, Myrtle Bailey, and Evelyn Hampton all of Barbourville, KY, one half brother Anthony Bargo Jr & wife Mollie of Hedrick, KY , a daughter-in-law Ernestine Bargo of Dayton, Ohio, and three step children Frances Brown & husband Walter of Barbourville, KY, Barbara Perkins & husband Terry of Corbin, KY, Frank Perkins & wife Gail of Barbourville, KY, and a step daughter–in–law Imogene Perkins of Williamsburg, KY, eleven grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and eight great great grandchildren, and nine step-grandchildren, thirteen step great grandchildren, and two step great great grandchildren. Rev. Bargo also leaves behind a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral Services for Rev. Chester Bargo will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel, on Thursday, July 2nd, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Lonnie Collett, Rev. Dennis Chesnut, Rev. Ken Merida, and Rev. Joe Jones officiating. Pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary Pallbearers will be staff of The Christian Health Center, Knox County Home Health staff and all ministers. Burial will be in the Barbourville Cemetery. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.

Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday evening, and on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 2:00 p.m.
