Mr. O.V. Slusher age 77 of Mills, KY departed this life on Sunday, April 24, 2011 at his home. He was the husband of Esslene (Asher) Slusher, and the son of the late Matthew & Clara (Jackson) Slusher, born to them on April 4th, 1934 in Knox County.

Mr. Slusher was a member of the Salem Baptist Church where he has been a long time deacon, he was a former Truck driver & logger and enjoyed attending church, singing, and visiting with his family & friends.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Gelema Slusher, one son Stanley Slusher, one brother Donald J. Slusher, and one infant brother Virgil Slusher, infant twin sisters Evelyn & Esslene, two sisters Ommie Smith and Lillie B. Broughton, two brother –in-law's Garret Broughton and Henry Peace.

Left behind to mourn his passing is his wife Esslene, one son Randall Slusher & wife Veronica, one daughter Kathy Stewart & husband Billy both of Mills, KY, two sisters Goldie Peace and Mollie Tebalt & husband Johnny both of Dayton, Ohio, one sister-in-law Carlene Slusher of Hinkle, Ky, one brother- in-law J.L. Smith of Lafollette, TN, four grandchildren Natasha Taylor, Jeffery Slusher, Brian Stewart, and Jeremiah Slusher, eight great grandchildren Paige, Jeffery, Jessica, Caleb, Keley, Jaylen, Jaxon, and Haley. Plus a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

Funeral services for Mr. Slusher will be conducted on Thursday, April 28th, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Teddy Collins, Rev. Bobby Abner, and Rev. Charles Carnes officiating. Pallbearers will be Dustin Patterson, Gary Gray, Anthony Saylor, David Stewart, Michael Denton, Wesley Roark, Marvin Roark, Cleveland Asher, Jerry Messer, and Jerry Mills. Honorary Pallbearers are Donald Lee Slusher, and members of the Salem Baptist Church, special nurse Cindy Fuson, and friends and neighbors. Burial will follow in Davis Cemetery. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the Hampton Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Thursday at the Church from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00.
