Mr. Otto Messer age 63 of Barbourville, Kentucky departed this life on Friday, February 7, 2014 at his home. He was born January 16th 1951to the late Pearlie Teague Messer and Edd Messer.
Mr. Messer is preceded in death by one sister Mrs. Stella Sweat, one brother Mr. Jess Blanton and three brothers in law. Mr. Dan Baker, Mr. Eugene Merida, and Mr. James Sweat.
Otto believed in the Baptist faith. Otto was both well known and loved in his community. He enjoyed spending time in the Knox County courthouse where he frequently visited offices of Mike Corey and John Pickard. Otto enjoyed watching Kentucky basketball and playing the Kentucky lottery as well as scratch off tickets.
He is survived by his longtime companion Arvalene Noe of Florida, two sisters Nora Lee Baker of Flat Lick and Martha Merida of Girdler, and three brothers Bill Messer and wife Sharon of Winston Salem, North Carolina, Harold and wife Ruby of Somerset Kentucky, and Jim and wife Liz of Chino Valley Arizona. He also leaves behind a host of many other friends and relatives to mourn his passing.
A memorial service for Mr. Messer will be held at the Hampton Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. A.Y. Mills and Rev. Denvil Taylor officiating.
Visitation for Otto Messer will be from 6-9 PM Tuesday evening at Hampton Funeral Home.
