Oris Mills

Mrs. Oris Chadwell Mills age 94 of Barbourville, KY departed this life on Monday, June 15, 2009 in the Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin. She was the widow of Columbus Mills and the daughter of the late Henry and Nannie (Philpot) Mullins born to them on May 10, 1915 in Knox Co.
Mrs. Mills was a member of the First Baptist Church of Barbourville, and was a homemaker who like to quilt, needlepoint, play shuffle board, cook, and clean. She loved her children and grandchildren and enjoyed going to church and traveling.
She is preceded in death by her first husband Floyd M. Chadwell her second husband Columbus Mills, her parents Henry & Nannie Mullins, five brothers Harley, Arnold, Tiffard, Henry C., and Troy Mullins, four sisters Beatrice Westerfield, Gladys Westerfield, Lillie Parmon, and Bertha Overbay.
Survivors include, one daughter Joann Faye Gibson of Barbourville, KY, two grandchildren Dr. Keith E. Gibson, and Karen Gibson-Hinkle, and five great grandchildren Kelsey, Blake, and Faith Hinkle, and Grant, and Grace Gibson. Mrs. Mills also leaves behind a host of many other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Mrs. Oris Mills will be conducted on Friday, June 19th at 12:00 noon in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Chestnut, Rev. Shane Nickel, and Claudia Greenwood officiating. Pallbearers will be Greg Helton, Jimbo Hall, Charles Gambrel, Charlie Green Dixon, David Greenwood, Olin Woolum and Garret Hinkle. Honorary Pallbearers are Dr. Benny Wilson, John Jones, Dr. Bobby Turner, the Baptist Regional Medical Center & Staff, The Heritage Nursing Home & staff, Don Daniels and Mardi’s Hair Co & Staff especially Nicky Davenport. Burial will follow in the Barbourville Cemetery. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.

Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday evening and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at noon.
