Mrs. Opal Gray age 80 of Flat Lick, KY departed this life on Sunday, January 12, 2014 in the Rockcastle Regional Medical Center in Mt. Vernon, KY. She was born on August 3, 1933 in Knox Co., KY and was the daughter of Johnie Hobbs and Lillie (Doan) Hobbs. Mrs. Gray was a member of the Greenbriar Holiness church and was a homemaker. For a short time she also had worked a tLawson Furniture in Barbourville.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Johnie and Lillie Hobbs, her husband Manuel Gray one daughter Deanna Teague, four brothers and one sister.
Left behind to mourn her passing, five sons, David Gray of Corbin, Danny Gray and wife Jean of Girdler, John Gray and wife Donna of Gray, Tony Gray of Flat Lick, Billy Gray also of Flat Lick, seven daughters, Savannah Brafford and husband Billy of Gray, Axie Hatfield of Corbin, Helen Smith and husband Virgil of Flat Lick, Dessie Hawkins of Flat Lick, Lenora Gray and husband J.T. of Barbourville, Sherry Kay Grooms and husband Mike of Speedwell, TN and Doris Brown and husband Bob of Naples, Florida, nineteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Mrs. Gray also leaves behind a host of many other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Mrs. Opal Gray will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Van Johnson and Rev. Bill Engle officiating. Pallbearers will be grandsons of Mrs. Gray. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of the Rockcastle Regional Respiratory Center. Burial will follow in the Hammons Cemetery at Flat Lick. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.
Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 6:30 until 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
