Mr. Oakley Messer, Jr age 55 of Barbourville, KY passed away on Monday – October 19th, 2009 at his home. He was the widower of Mary (Brown) Messer and the son of the late Nelson Messer and Roxie Smallwood of Knox County born to them on July 17th, 1954.

Oakley was a former construction worker, and believed in the Baptist faith, an enjoyed his pet dogs.

Left behind to mourn his passing is his two daughters Joanna Collett & husband Jeff of London, KY, and Olivia & fiancé Ronnie Burton of Barbourville, KY, one Grandchild Anthony Burton and one on the way. A Special friend Linda Kay Spurlock of Rockhold, KY plus other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

Funeral services for Oakley Messer, Jr will be conducted at the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Friday – October 23rd at 2:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Gary Rice, Eddie Wilburn, Shannon Burton, Scott Burton, Tim Burton, and Mark McDonald. Burial will follow in the Messer cemetery.

Read Wed, Thur, Fri: The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:30 p.m. until 9:00 and on Thursday from 9a.m. until 9p.m. and on Friday from 9 a.m. until the hour of service at 2p.m.
