Mr. Novel Bond, age 84 of Barbourville, Kentucky departed this life on Thursday, August 24, 2017 in the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington. He was born on May 26, 1933 in Barbourville, Kentucky, a son of the late Fayette & Malissie (Wright) Bond. Mr. Novel Bond was of the Baptist faith and was a Mason in the Barbourville Masonic Lodge. He was an Army Veteran during the Korean Conflict, and a proud member of law enforcement, having served in various positions including Chief of Police and Knox County Sheriff.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Fayette & Malissie (Wright) Bond, his brother, Fayette Bond, Jr., his sister, Drucilla Fortney, a son-in-law, Ricky Blevins and grandson, Donrick Novel Blevins.
Left behind to mourn his passing, his loving wife of 60 years, Clara (Lee) Bond, son Wendell Bond and wife Dorene, daughter Novella Epperson and husband Jerry, sisters-in-law Nettie Perkins and Drucilla Pressnell, grandson Novel J. Bond, granddaughter Jessica Kay Penn and her husband Jason of Georgetown, Kentucky, and great-grandchildren Mollie, Sophia and Amelia Penn. He also leaves behind many other family and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral Services for Mr. Novel Bond will be conducted on Sunday, August 27, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. in the Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeffrey Branum and Rev. Garrett Garland officiating. Masonic rites will be given prior to the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Mr. Bond will be laid to rest in the Blevins Cemetery at Heidrick with Jason Penn, Gordon Hinkle, Jeffery Ketcham, John Blevins, Chad Crawford and Travis Partin serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Raju Vora, Glen Taylor, James Turpin, BP Sowders, Burchell Blevins, Jack Ketcham, Don I. Bingham, Don Hyden, Dow Bunch, Ron Phipps, Ancil Hall and the "Table Boys" at Lee’s Food Mart. He will be laid to rest in the Blevins Cemetery in Heidrick, Kentucky.
Friends will be received at the Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home on Saturday evening after 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. and on Sunday after 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at 2:00 P.M.
Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.
