Mrs. Norma Shearer Smith age 90 of Barbourville, Kentucky departed this life on Monday, July 9, 2018, in the Diversicare of Claiborne in New Tazewell, Tenessee. She was born on October 29, 1927 in Gatliff, Kentucky the daughter of Millard and Myrtle (Lawson) Brown. On May 13, 1946, she united in marriage with Evan Coolidge Smith and to this union three children were born. Norma was a member of the Little Poplar Creek Baptist Church. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Zelma Goodin.

Left behind to mourn her passing, her loving husband Evan Coolidge Smith of Barbourville, her daughter Janet Wilder and husband James ‘Dickie’ of Corbin, Kentucky, Wilma Girdner and husband Ike of Cincinnati, Ohio and Evan Keith Smith and wife Gwendolyn of Barbourville, her granddaughter Angela Roden and husband Eric of Alabama, and great-grandsons, Eric & Evan and a host of step-grandchildren, a sister, Marcella Owens of Wapakoneta, Ohio, a sister-in-law, Helen Mills of Winchester, Kentucky, nieces, Paula Jordan and husband Larry of Wapakoneta, Ohio, Brenda Bryant and husband Larry of Barbourville, Kentucky, Winifred Brooks of Winchester, Kentucky, nephews James William Runyon of Barbourville, Kentucky, and Carl Runyon of Barbourville, Kentucky.

Her faith and her family were the most important thing in her life.

Funeral services for Mrs. Norma Smith will be conducted in the Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, July 12, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Ronnie Rose officiating.  She will be laid to rest in the Croley Cemetery at Bryants Store. Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.

Friends will be received at the Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
