Norma Lee Gladdish Dixon, 81 years old, of Dione (Cumberland), Kentucky, peacefully passed from this life to her eternal home in Heaven on Thursday, May 2, 2024. The youngest of two daughters, Norma was placed on this earth for a special purpose in Christian County, KY, on February 4, 1943, to Lee Pascal and Kate Blanton Gladdish.

Norma was a quiet, gentle woman who loved to pray, sing, read the Bible, and go to church.   She accepted Christ as her savior at a very young age. Then, when she was only 6 years old, began singing and playing the guitar with her mother and sister (who was her lifelong best friend and prayer partner). Norma was a dedicated Christian who loved singing praises to the Lord and spreading the message of the gospel of Christ through song. She met the love of her life, Myrthul Dixon, at the tender age of 15, and married him two weeks after her 18th birthday. Norma, along with her sister, Ellen, and husband, Myrthul, recorded a long play album of gospel songs around 1969.The trio traveled to churches around Kentucky, Virginia, Tennessee, Indiana, and Ohio, singing in revivals and special services. Norma was a devoted mother, homemaker, prayer warrior, and a member of the Totz Church of God. She enjoyed cooking for anyone who would let her, and she wanted her children around her as much as possible. In addition to her biological family, Norma dearly loved her church family and friends. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her, but her songs and prayers will remain in our hearts and ears forever.

Norma was preceded in death by her father who was killed in World War II; her mother; and her step-father, Ed Sergeant; infant brother, Melvin Gladdish; sister, Ellen Turner; her husband, Myrthul Dixon; and her son, Jeffery Dixon.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Kathy Dixon Hughes (husband) Carlton, and their children: Noah (wife) Erin Hughes and Ethan (wife) Kersyn Hughes; Melvin and wife Lenora, with their two children: Madison and Karsten; Jess and wife Heather, with their two children: Kaitlyn and Caleb; Michael and wife Tracy, with their son: Joseph; Jerry and wife Katie, with their children: Dakota, Madilynn, and AhLanie; Terry and wife Sheila; Daughter-in-law, Kellyn Dixon; and a special nephew who was just like a son to her: Mark Turner and wife Eda, with their children: Elyse and Jared; A very special cousin: Sherry Thompson, and her daughter: Janie; and the last- living sibling of her husband: Lavondia Dixon Lloyd; and not only Norma’s two primary caregivers, Bridgett Howard and Tiffany Gray, but all of the other Bluegrass Care Navigator staff who provided Norma with such wonderful care..

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at Hampton Funeral Home (owned and operated by her son, Michael and his wife Tracy) in Barbourville Ky, which has been entrusted with the arrangements and is honored to complete these services for Norma. The visitation will be from 10am-12pm and the funeral will begin at noon. There will be a private burial at Huff Cemetery, Cumberland, KY. Norma preached her own funeral while she was alive, but several family members and close friends will be speaking and singing throughout her memorial service. Norma’s sons and favorite son-in-law will lay her to rest. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Totz Church of God in her memory.
