Mrs. Nellie (Mason) Smith age 84 of Cannon, KY departed this life on Sunday, September 11, 2011 in the St. Joseph Hospital in London. She was born on October 25, 1926 in Bell Co., KY. She was the widow of Richard Smith and the daughter of John and Ada (Collin) Mason. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and a member of the Sinking Valley Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, quilting and reading her Bible.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Ada Mason, her husband Richard Smith, one son Earnest Smith, one deceased grandchild, five brothers, Otis Mason, Paul Mason, Larry Mason, Ed Mason, Roy Mason and one sister Hattie Gibson.
Survivors include three sons, Johnnie Smith and wife Shirley of Cannon, Beve Smith of Louisville and Randall Smith and wife Ada of Ohio, four daughters, Martha Gail Whitt of Lima, Ohio, Annie Mae Palte and husband Robert of Beaver Dam, Ohio and Ada Shannon and husband Wayne of Knoxville, TN and Cleda Jackson of Cannon, KY, one sister Lena Smith of Harrod, Ohio, twelve grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Mrs. Smith also leaves behind a host of many other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Mrs. Nellie Smith will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Vernon Morris and Rev. Johnny Fisher officiating. Pallbearers will be family & friends. Burial will follow in the Bingham Cemetery at Cannon. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.

Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home on Monday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 11:00 a.m.
