Mrs. Nellie (Hubbard) Gambrel age 94 of Girdler, Kentucky, departed this life on Thursday, April 19, 2018 in the Barbourville ARH. She was the daughter of Charlie Hubbard and Gracie (Cole) Hubbard born to them on December 7, 1923 in Hammond, KY. On December 22, 1939, she united in marriage with Everett Gambrel and to this union nine children were born. She was a member of Cole’s Branch Baptist Church and she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed cooking for her family and especially loved being with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting and growing a garden.

She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, three sisters, Annie Jones, Irene Hubbard and Lettie Hubbard, one brother Cecil Hubbard and two grandchildren, Jennifer Ann Jones and Anthony “Tony” Helton.

Left behind to mourn her passing, her loving children, five daughters, Norma Jean Cobb and husband John of Louisville, KY, Geraldine Gambrel from Union, Missouri, Christine Singleton of Barbourville, Joann Mills and husband Lloyd of Barbourville and Beulah Jones and husband Ralph of Corbin, four sons, Clifford Gambrel and wife Barbara of Bardstown, KY, Denver Gambrel and wife Barbara of Girdler, Grover Gambrel and wife Helen of Girdler and Charles Gambrel and wife Lana of London, twenty grandchildren, thirty five great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. She also leaves behind a host of many other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

Funeral services for Mrs. Nellie Gambrel will be conducted on Monday, April 23, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Barnard and Brother Keith Duncan officiating. Pallbearers will be Grandsons. She will be laid to rest in the Gambrel Family Cemetery at Girdler. Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
