Mrs. Nannie Wagers age 85 of Girdler, KY passed away on Sunday night - September 11th, 2011 at her home. She was the widow of Johnny Wagers and the daughter of the late James & Maggie (Childers) Root born to them on February 27th, 1926 in Clay County.
Nannie was a member of the Locust Grove Baptist Church and a former Nurses Aid for Knox County Health Department. She enjoyed cooking, and her pets.
Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two brothers Palace Root, and Bev Root. Two great grandsons Jonathon & Christopher Wagers. A son-in-law Jimmie Smith and a sister-in-law Geneva Root.
Left behind to mourn her passing is two sons Bev Wagers & wife Wilma of Louisville, KY, Grover Wagers & wife Karen of Girdler, KY, two daughters Maggie Smith of Frankfort, KY, and June Wagers of Girdler, KY, two brothers Fount Root & wife Marie of Woolum, KY, George Root of London, KY. Seven grandchildren Leslie, Melinda, Tommy, Angie, Johnny, Derrick, and Kevin. Seven great grandchildren Jarrod, Allie, Olivia, Matthew, Michael, Mark, and Matthew Wagers. One step-granddaughter. One Great Great Granddaughter . Plus a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Nannie Smith will be conducted on Wednesday-September 14th, 2011 @ 1:00 p.m. in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Barnard & Rev. Alvin Dunn officiating. Pallbearers will be Derrick Wagers, Kevin Wagers, Jarrod Toles, Michael Liford, David Dunn, and Jamie Hubbard. Honorary pallbearers are Allie Toles, Shawna Adams, Hospice of the Bluegrass, Employees of the Knox county Health Department, Dr. Carter, members of the Locus Grove Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Hampton Cemetery. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.
Friends may call at the Hampton Funeral home on Tuesday night from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 1:00 p.m.
