Mrs. Willa Dean Shields, age 75 of Barbourville, KY departed this life on Thursday, June 05, 2014 at her home. Willa was the daughter of the late Marion and Cleadia Prichard Hall born to them on March 26, 1939. She was employed by the Knox County School System as a Special Education Teacher and later in life obtained her Rank 1 plus 30 degree and became Special Education Director. She was also a member of the East Barbourville Baptist Church and a member of the Sunshine Sunday School class. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by a son, Tony Shields and a twin brother Tommy Hall.
Survivors include her Husband of 57 years Mr. Neil Shields of Barbourville, KY, three daughters Susan Poff and husband Derrick, Donna Martin and husband Larry and Denna Shields all of Barbourville, KY, one brother Jimmy Ray Hall and wife Helen of Cincinnati, OH and five grandchildren, Michael Poff, Megan Poff, Nick Martin, Abby Martin and Anthony Shields all of Barbourville along with a host of many other relatives and friends left to mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Willa Dean Shields will be conducted on Sunday June 8, 2014 at 3:00 PM at the East Barbourville Baptist Church with the Rev. James Vandy and Rev. Josh Smith officiating. Music will be provided by Change Of Heart. Burial will follow in the Barbourville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Grandsons and Deacons of East Barbourville Baptist Church. Honorary Pallbearers will be Sharon Valentine and Nickie Hammons.
The Shields family will receive friends on Saturday evening form 6 until 9:00 PM at the Hampton Funeral Home and Sunday from 1:00 PM until the hour of service at 3:00 PM at the church. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
