Jack Paul Parsons, age 85 of Barbourville, departed this life on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 in the Barbourville Health and Rehabilitation Center in Barbourville, Kentucky. He was the son of Rudolph and Henrietta Slusher Parsons, born to them on September 23, 1929 in Harlan County, Kentucky. Mr. Parsons faithfully served his country in the United States Army where he served in the paratrooper division. He was a telephone technician with the Bell South Telephone Company and was also a machinist for the National Standard Company. Jack was of the Baptist faith and was a talented country musician excelling in playing the steel guitar and electric bass. He once played with Ferlin Husky and other famous musicians. Along with his parents, Mr. Parsons was preceded in death by an infant brother and sister, a brother Ralph Parsons and a sister, Vivian Cox.

Mr. Parsons is survived by his two brothers, Glen Parsons (Nancy) of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee and Guy Parsons of Mississippi; his two sisters, Carrie Rice of Bimble and Sophia Rice (Charlie) of Lily: His sister-in-law, Kay Parsons of Goose Creek, South Carolina and many nieces, nephews and friends to mourn his passing.

Funeral services for Jack Paul Parsons will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, January 4, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Jimmy Helton and Rev. David Rice officiating. Burial will follow in the Rice Cemetery at Bimble with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff at the Barbourville Health and Rehabilitation Center, Dr. Paul Pederson and wife Ann and their staff and the staff of the Good Samaritan Hospital.

Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home on Saturday, January 3, 2015 after 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. and on Sunday after 10:00 A.M. until the funeral hour at 2:00 P.M.
