Minnie Maiden of Barbourville departed this life on Monday, August 15, 2016 at her home being 89 years, 11 months and 4 days of age. She was born on September 11, 1926 in Marietta, Georgia to the late Walter Bays and the late Lessie Lango Bays. On December 1, 1942 she married the love of her life Shelt Maiden who preceded her in death after 58 years of marriage. She is also preceded in death by her son Jerry Maiden; brother Louie Bays; sisters Katherine Carwile and Nettie Jones and daughter-in-law Geraldine Maiden. She enjoyed spending time in her garden, cooking delicious meals and shopping. She believed in the Baptist Faith.
She leaves behind to mourn her passing her son Carl Maiden of Barbourville, Kentucky; two daughters: Cathy Sue Maiden Smith and husband Daniel of Girdler, Kentucky and Betty Maiden of Barbourville, Kentucky; two brothers: Kenneth Bays and wife Sandy of Ohio and Ray Bays also of Ohio; two sisters: Ruth Ashbrook of Cincinnati, Ohio and Joann Mica of Washington State; four grandchildren: Joy Maiden of Barbourville, Kentucky, Kenneth Jackson of Barbourville, Kentucky, Amy Mills and husband Challis of Girdler, Kentucky and Crystal Garland and husband Jerry Wayne of Bimble, Kentucky; three great-grandchildren: Caylee Mills, Halee Mills and Jakob Garland, and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Family and Friends.
A funeral service for Minnie Maiden will be conducted on Friday, August 19, 2016 at 2:00PM in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clay Bishop officiating. She will be laid to rest at the Evans Cemetery with Jr Smith, Gary Smith, Josh Smith, Virgil Smith, Jerry Wayne Garland, Alvin Messer and Nickolas Jordan serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 18, 2016 from 6:00PM until 9:00PM at Hampton Funeral Home.
