Mr. Melvin Dwight Bennett age 80 of Corbin, KY departed this life on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 in the Baptist Health Hospital in Corbin, KY. He was the husband of Virgie (Prichard) Bennett and the son of Dwight H. Bennett and Ida Mae (Wheeling) Bennett born to them on November 28, 1934 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Mr. Bennett was a retired truck driver and was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during the Korean War. He was also a woodworker and a bee keeper. He believed in the Baptist faith. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dwight and Ida Mae Bennett.
Survivors include his wife Virgie Bennett of Corbin, two daughters, Kimberly Smith and husband Chuck and Leslee Livingood, one son Randall Payne and wife Angel, his grandchildren, Jedediah Smith and wife Jennifer, Amanda Gragg and husband Justin, Benjamin Smith and wife Alexia, Charlie Smith, Ronnie Livingood and wife Cricket, Lyndsey Tranquill and husband Patrick, Randy Payne, Stephanie Youngs and husband Andy, Daniel Payne and wife Natasha, Austin Payne, Jimmy Payne and Shelby Payne, his great grandchildren, Lance, Max, Maggie, Corrie, Johanna, Addryanna, maverick, Logan and Ayden. He also leaves behind a host of many other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Mr. Melvin Bennett are will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, February 13, 2015 at 12:00 noon with Rev. Benny Bush officiating. Pallbearers will be Daniel Payne, Austin Payne, Chuck Smith, Jimmy Payne, John Ferguson, Shelby Payne and Andy Youngs. Burial will be in the W.E. Cemetery at Old Prichard Hollow . Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.
Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home on Friday after 10:30 a.m. until the hour of service at 12:00 noon.
