Mrs. Mary Marcum, age 91, departed this life on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at her home in Trosper, Kentucky. She was the daughter of Joe Earls and Della Mae Perry Earls, born to them on May 1, 1927 in London, Kentucky. She was united in marriage to Jess Marcum and to this union eight children were born. Mary was a member of the Trosper Church of God Mountain Assembly, and she loved quilting, watching TV and going to town.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jess Marcum, father Joe Earls, mother Della Mae Bingham and stepfather Gus Bingham, son Gus Marcum, daughter Stella Mae Jones, grandson Bradley Scott Coleman and great grandson Jonathan Austin (Awesome) Chatham, sister Della Mae Farmer, stepsons Jess Willard Marcum, Hugh L. Marcum and Ledford Marcum and stepdaughter Olina Jones.
Left behind to mourn her passing are her children, Della Mae Collins and husband Reverend Glenn Collins of Barbourville, Kentucky, Shirley Mae Coleman and husband Larry Coleman of Selmer, Tennessee, H.C. Marcum, George Marcum, Charles Glenn Marcum, all of Trosper, Kentucky, Geneva Jenkins and husband Norman Earl (Buster) Jenkins, Jr., of London, Kentucky, and a very special friend and neighbor Georgia Butler. Mary was grandmother to 22 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren and 25 great-great grandchildren. She also leaves behind a host of many relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Marcum will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Glenn Collins officiating. Burial will follow in the Williams Cemetery at Trosper, Kentucky. Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
Friends will be received at Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home on Thursday, March 21, 2019 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. and on Friday, March 22, 2019 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.
