Mrs. Mary Lou Marcum, age 84 of Barbourville, KY departed this life on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 in the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, KY. She was the daughter of Herbert Balkom and the widow of Samuel Marcum. She was born in Alabama on June 1, 1928 and was a homemaker. She believed in the Pentecostal faith and was a member of the Trosper Church of God.
She is preceded in death by her father and husband, one daughter Betty LeMaster, two brothers, Beecham Taylor and Milam Taylor and one sister, Carrie Mae Ingram.
Survivors include five daughters, Donna Owens, Glenda Owens, Mary Ann Deaton and Glenda Faye Eloise Gray all of Barbourville and Patsy Bacon of Florida, two brothers, Carlos Balkcom of Deltona, Florida and Otis Balkom of Wilmore, KY, two sisters, Amour Butcher of Florida and Jessie Fleck of Deland, Florida. She also leaves behind ten grandchildren and many great grandchildren along with special friends, Adrian and Milton Dunaway and Mary Alice Lay. She also leaves behind a host of many other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Lou Marcum will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, December 16, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Glenn Collins officiating. Pallbearers will be Benjamin Owens, Mike Deaton, Charles Scott and Dave Bradford and other family & friends. Burial will follow in the Deaton Cemetery at Girdler. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
