Mary L. Asher age 83 of Nicholasville, departed this life on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at her home. She was the beloved wife of Eugene Asher and was married for sixty-eight years. She was the daughter of the late John L. and Maggie (Black) Corey of Barbourville.

She attended Union College and graduated from the University of Kentucky. Mary was an educator for twenty-seven years and owner of the Kiddie Cottage Day Care for almost thirty years. Her love and care touched the lives of countless children. Mary was an active member of the New Bethel Baptist Church in Barbourville, the Edgewood Baptist Church in Nicholasville and Anchor Baptist Church in Lexington. She loved to teach the Bible and sing the hymns of her faith.

Mary is survived by her husband Eugene Asher, her sister Faye Terrell of Lexington, her daughter Libby with Tom and granddaughter Ashlynn Rose Bradshaw.

Funeral services will be held in Lexington at Anchor Baptist Church on Thursday, June 14. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. with the service to follow at 1:00 p.m.

A second service will be in Barbourville at New Bethel Baptist Church on Friday, June 15. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. with the funeral to follow at noon. Betts and West Funeral Home in Nicholasville is in charge of all arrangements.

She will be laid to rest in the New Bethel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the Anchor Baptist Church Capital Stewardship Campaign.
