Mrs. Marilyn Dale Taylor of Barbourville, Kentucky departed this life on Monday, December 12, 2016 being 65 years, 10 months, and 10 days of age. She was born in Lexington, Kentucky on February 9, 1951 to the late Leslie Taylor and the late Corene Hubbard Taylor. Marilyn was also preceded in death by her husband, McKinley Henson, two sons: James Winston Cox II and Conley Royce Cox; one daughter: Carla Hensley; three sisters: Shirley Ann Carnes, Opal Pearl Taylor and Karen Hammons and four brothers: Danny Taylor, Lowell Gene Taylor, Conley Royce Taylor, Bernard Morris Taylor. Marilyn was the staple that held her family in place, a woman of strong faith with great love for her Lord and Savior. Her children recall her as being one of the most gracious individuals one could have the privilege to have known and they remember her as a mother who went above the call of motherhood for each of them. Marilyn never missed an opportunity to say "I love you" to those most dear to her heart. She never met a stranger and would help anyone who she thought may be in need, though she didn't have a lot herself, she would share what she did have. Marilyn lived a simple life that was extravagant to her; the smallest things brought her the most pleasure. She enjoyed quilting and over the years she quilted each of her children their own special quilt. She loved to garden and always grew beautiful flower gardens that she would spend her time tending in the summer. In the winter she enjoyed the snow, even driving in it and having a laugh when others were frightened. Marilyn loved to cook and could prepare a meal from very little as she had known hard times but had learned to make the best of every situation. She was known especially, for her sweet treats such as her famous chocolate pie. She began singing in church as a child; she was faithful to lead the singing for the Old Ark House of Prayer Christmas play each year where she had been a member. Marilyn enjoyed visiting Gatlinburg to view the beautiful scenes of nature and to have her favorite chocolate walnut fudge. In her free time, you could often find her, along with her best friend Sandra at the local "Goodwill" shopping and looking at trinkets, which she enjoyed immensely.
She leaves behind to mourn her passing her children: Tip Smith. Jr of Corbin, Kentucky, Jim Smith, of Barbourville, Kentucky, Randy Cox and wife Jennifer of Barbourville, Kentucky, Sarah Vaughn and husband Jerry of Artemus, Kentucky, Penny Shown and husband Rodford of Adger, Alabama and April Smith of Gray, Kentucky; Two brothers: Harold Taylor of Lexington, Kentucky and Robert Taylor and wife Debbie of Barbourville, Kentucky. She also leaves behind 27 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
