Mrs. Violet Marie Collins age 87 of Mills Creek departed this life on Friday, September 12, 2014 at her home. She was born on June 3, 1927 in Lancaster, KY to the late Bradley and Alice Carnes Merida. She was a Homemaker, a devoted wife and mother and a member of the Dripping Springs Baptist Church. Marie also enjoyed Quilting and working with her flowers. In addition to her parents Marie was also preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Finley Collins, four brothers; AY, John, Chester and Dan Merida, one sister, Ivory Mae Merida and her Father and Mother n law Bessie and Henry Collins.
Survivors include five sons; Farley Collins and wife Tressie of Hinkle, Ky., Elvan Collins of Callebs Creek, James Bradley Collins and wife Patty of Cannon, Ky., David Collins and wife Carol of Hinkle, Ky., and Joseph Collins of Cannon Ky., one Daughter Anna Lois Mills and husband Chalice of Mills Creek, three sisters Deli Billingsley and husband Carl of Barbourville, Ky., Julie Mcvey of Hinkle, Ky., and Roberta Smith and husband Bob of Heidrick, Ky. Thirteen Grandchildren; Pam Hensley and husband Chuck of Manchester, Ky., Daniel Wayne Smith and wife Melinda of Salt Gum, Danielle Smith and husband Brandon of Hinkle, Ky., Melissa Witt and husband Chester of Hinkle, Ky., Farley Jr. Collins of Hinkle, Ky., Charles and Jonathon Baker of Mills Creek, William Matthew Collins and wife Jobeth of Hinkle, Ky., Farrow Collins and wife Angie of Hinkle, Ky., James Robert Collins of Hinkle, Ky., Joseph Matthew Collins of Girdler, Jason Collins, Gladys Collins and Michael Eversole of Barbourville, Ky. 22 Great Grandchildren, one great great grandchild, A special nephew Junior Bargo, a special caregiver, Amber Fleming and special friends Gracie Eversole and Bonnie Lou Riley along with a host of other relatives and friends left to mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Marie Collins will be conducted on Tuesday September 16, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Dripping Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Mickie Smith and the Rev. Herman Mills officiating. Burial will follow in the obie mills cemetery at Flat Lick. Pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Chalice Mills, Brandon Smith, Danny Smith, Marty Smith, Michael Eversole, George Bargo, Chester Witt, Hospice of the Bluegrass and nurse aide
Dena. The family will receive friends on Sunday after 6 pm at the Dripping Springs Baptist Church. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
