Margaret Pope, age 71, of Barbourville, Kentucky departed this life on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Albert B. Chandler Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. She was the wife of the late Tye Jack Pope. and daughter of John and Kathleen Smith Blakely, born to them on September 27, 1947. Margaret was a member of Swan Pond Baptist Church, and enjoyed watching wrestling.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Tye Jack Pope, parents John and Cathleen Smith Blakely, brother Richard Blakely, sister Sandra Barnes and niece Kristy Mills.
Left behind to mourn her passing are her son David Pope of Barbourville, daughter Patricia Blakely of Barbourville, brothers James Blakely and very special sister-in-law and friend Bonnie Powers of Smokey, Kentucky, Andrew Blakely and wife Lisa of Barbourville, sisters Joyce Blakely of Horn Branch, Kentucky, Ann Blakely of Horn Branch, Kentucky, Dollie Mills and husband Johnnie of Horn Branch, Kentucky, Rosemary Napier and husband Ray of Barbourville, Kentucky, and Elaine Russell and husband Doug of Michigan. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Margaret Pope will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Swan Pond Baptist Church, with Reverend Ray Napier officiating. Burial will follow in the Hampton Cemetery at Swan Pond, Kentucky. Pallbearers will be James Napier, Will Perkins, Dillon Hubbard, Andrew Mills, Johnnie Mills and Robert Wilson. Honorary Pallbearer will be David Pope. Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
Friends will be received at Swan Pond Baptist Church on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Thursday, May 2, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
