Mrs. Lydia Payne Messer age 85 of Corbin, KY formerly of Knox county, passed away Wednesday – June 16th, 2010 at the Baptist Regional Medical Center, in Corbin. She was the widow of Ewell David Messer. She was born on June 13, 1925 in Knox County to the union of Robert and Cordie (Garland) Payne. She was a homemaker, and a member of Whippoorwill Pentecostal Church, who loved to quilt, read the Bible and go to Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ewell David Messer, her parents Robert and Cordie Payne three sons John David Messer, Kenneth Messer and Ewell Messer three daughter: Julie Messer, Annette Joyce Messer and Betty Ann Messer one brother: Walter Matt Payne and two sisters Julie Payne and Nancy Barger and one Great Grandchild.
Survivors include one son Nelson Messer and wife Lovella of Cannon, KY two daughters Esterleen Mills &Husband Rudy of Corbin, KY , and Vernettia Stephenson & husband Lonnie of Pine Knot, KY, one brother Hiram Payne & wife Retha
of Flat Lick, KY, and a first cousin who was like a sister Edna Hale, 12 Grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren, and 6 Great Great Grandchildren, plus a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Lydia Payne Messer will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Lee and Rev.Tommy Frazier officiating. Burial will follow in the Yeager Cemetery at Bimble with Rick Smith, Jimmy Stewart, Willie Stewart, Brian Grubb, Phillip Broughton, Mark Messer and Mike Mills serving as Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Nick Plucker, Dr. Vaezy and Dr. Samuel Kreis. Burial will follow in the Yeager Cemetery at Bimble. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.
The family will receive friends at Hampton Funeral Home Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. And Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
