Lorene “Red”  Ramey, age 62, transferred peacefully into her heavenly home on Sunday, December 1, 2024, surrounded by her family.

Born on April 8, 1962, Lorene dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren. Her greatest joy and biggest smiles came when they entered the room.

Lorene had a gift for nurturing lasting relationships with those around her. Her home was always infused with music and she was always up for a jam session that included a two-step, or bus stop.

Lorene had many titles throughout her life, daughter, sister, wife, aunt and mom, but her favorite role was “Mammaw Red”.

Lorene fought a battle against a brain tumor with unwavering courage for thirty years. Despite the many obstacles her body presented, she never lost her infectious smile or wink. Throughout her journey she always showed remarkable strength, creating a sense of hope for those who loved and cared for her.

Lorene is survived by her three children, Chelsie (Blake) Couch, Leah (Casey) Miller and Jack (Laiken) Ramey, eight grandchildren, Maci, Hayden, Mason Couch, Joey, Ellie, Lucas Miller, Letti and Aubrey Ramey, a special niece whom she saw as a daughter Misty and two bonus grandchildren, Jaxton ad Ramey Jo.

Lorene is also survived by her twin sister and caregiver of over fifteen years, Dorlene (Marshall) Ramey. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to them for their compassion, sacrifices and love over the years. Mom had the very best care and home. She is also survived by a host of siblings, and other family members. Lorene is preceded in death by her husband Jacky Lyn Ramey and her parents, Add and Laura Bays.

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in the Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home with Rev. David Rice and Rev. Paul Long officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Alan Mullens, Jaxten Mullens, Blake Couch, Hayden Couch, Casey Miller and Joey Miller. Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.

To the Ramey family, the staff of the Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home would like to offer you our heartfelt sympathy during their time of bereavement.
