Mrs. Lizzie Jean Abner age 75, of Greenroad, KY departed this life on Thursday, November4, 2010 in the Knox county Hospital. She was the wife of Walter Abner and the daughter of Leonard Cheek and Martha Lawson Cheek born to them on December 28, 1933 in Clay Co., KY. She was a homemaker and a member of the White’s Branch Holiness Church.
She is preceded in death by two daughters, Linda Sue Abner and Marilyn Abner, her parents, Leonard and Martha Cheek and three brothers Alvin Cheek, Gary Cheek and George Cheek and four sisters Alta Vaughn, Anna Lawson, Della Henson and Alfa Gross.
Left behind to mourn her passing is her husband Walter “Tub” Abner of Greenroad, one son, Mearl Abner and wife Karen of Greenroad, two daughters, Maudine Smith and husband Harold of Barbourville and Wendy Abner and friend Ricky Hubbs of Cannon, two sisters, Celita Mills and husband Dexter of Manchester and Ruby Davis also of Manchester, eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Mrs. Abner also leaves behind a host of many other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Mrs. Lizzie Jean Abner will be conducted on Sunday, November 7, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Hampton Funeral Home with Rev. Youel Napier and Rev. Oakley Vaughn officiating. Pallbearers will be Cody Abner, Teddy Jones, Anthony Vaughn, Dustin Abner, Phillip Jones, Ricky Hubbs, Lester Fugate and Tim Vaughn. Burial will be in the Tuttle Cemetery in Laurel Co. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.
Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home on Saturday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
