Mrs. Linda Sue Hammons, age 69, of Barbourville, KY departed this life on Saturday, March 31, 2018 in the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, KY.  She was born on January 19, 1949 in Barbourville, KY, the daughter of Riley and Verlie Pickard.  Linda was united in marriage to Billy Ray Hammons in October 1965, and to their union were born two children, Jeffrey and Joyce.  She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Linda was a member of the Apple Grove Baptist Church, enjoyed the outdoors and liked to travel.

She is preceded in death by her parents Riley and Verlie Pickard, and her brother Billy Pickard.

She leaves behind to mourn her passing son Jeffrey Hammons and wife Ann of Flat Lick, daughter Joyce Patterson of Himyar, brother Bobby Pickard and wife Loretta of Gray, grandchildren Devon Owens and husband Justin, Dylan Hammons, and Dalton Hammons, great grandchildren Hunter R. Owens and Brooklyn Hammons, ex-husband Billy Ray Hammons, special friend C.G. Foley, and special friend Joann Shelton. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

Funeral services for Mrs. Linda Sue Hammons will be conducted in the Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, April 6, 2018 at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Reverend Mike Collins.  Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Hammons, Dylan Hammons, Dalton Hammons, Josh Pickard, Frankie Hammons, Austin Thomas and Justin Owens. Honorary pallbearers will be C.G. Foley, Wesley Roark, Buddy Teague and Apple Grove Baptist Church. She will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery. Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, April 5, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. and on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 1:00 p.m.
