Lester Merida

Mr. Lester Merida age 90 of Hammond, KY went to be with the Lord on Sunday-September 28, 2008 at his home. He was the son of Arthur and Gracie (Mills) Merida born to them on November 20, 1917 in Knox Co.KY and was the loving husband of Beulah Cole Merida whom he united in marriage with on May 28, 1946. Lester was a member of the Cole’s Branch Baptist Church and was a Veteran of World War II and a farmer. Mr. Merida is preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Gracie Merida, three sisters Ora Merida, Lena Merida, and Alma Partin, three brothers-in-law, Clifford Cole, Jim Cole, and Rev. John Partin and one sister in law, Sallie Mills.
Survivors for Mr. Merida include his wife of 62 years Beulah Merida of Flat Lick, Ky, one sister Lela Carmack and husband Earl of Bimble, KY, Brothers & sisters-in-law Cathleen & Jr. Mills of Hammond, KY, Myrtle Cole of Hammond, KY, Bob and Wanda Fields of Batavia, Ohio, Curtis & Wanda Cole of Paris, KY, Everett & Helen Cole of Westchester, Ohio, Raymond & Joann Cole of Bowling Green, KY, Harold & Francis Cole of Goshen, OH, David Cole of Westchester, OH , Ruth Cole of Fairfield, OH and Lester Mills of Salt Gum, KY. He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends to mourn his passing. Funeral services for Mr. Merida will be conducted on Tuesday-September 30, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Jerry Smith and Rev. Farmer C. Mills officiating. Pallbearers will be family & friends. Burial will follow in the Cole’s Branch Cemetery. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements. Visitation will be on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
